Why is exfoliating important?

Exfoliation is key to maintaining smooth skin as it removes oil & dead skin allowing moisture to be absorbed more easily by the skin. Exfoliation not only helps many skin problems, it also increases blood circulation, which in turn helps bring out healthy and glowing skin.

What types of exfoliants are used in our products?

Fine exfoliants work well for the face while large exfoliants work well for the body (especially dry areas like elbows and feet). But which you use where is largely based on personal preference. The best way to find out what works best for you is to test out different ones and see what you like best.

FINE EXFOLIANTS

Ground oatmeal is one of the most gentle exfoliants and adds a silky texture with soothing properties to soaps and bath products.

Clay has a gentle exfoliating ability that makes it perfect for more sensitive skin types. There's a variety of different clay compositions with a clay type suitable for every skin type.

Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) is an excellent multipurpose product. It is known for its cleansing abilities and leaves the skin soft and smooth with its gentle exfoliation abilities.

MEDIUM EXFOLIANTS

Walnut shells add a natural brown color to soap and provide a medium exfoliation suitable for both the face and body.

Salts have a variety of different measurements and can offer a gentle to powerful exfoliation depending on the size of the granules.

Jojoba beads are a biodegradable exfoliant that is made from jojoba oil. They come in a variety of different colors and sizes which can provide a pop of color while providing a gentle-medium exfoliation. They're suitable for sensitive skin due to their spherical shape.

Shredded loofah comes from whole loofah sponges that are ground into a fine texture. It adds an invigorating medium exfoliation to soaps.

Icelandic black sand is a product that comes from a volcanic beach on the south coast of Iceland. It has mild-medium exfoliation and adds a beautiful natural black color to soaps.

LARGE EXFOLIANTS

Coffee grounds leave the skin feeling fresh and clean. It does provide larger exfoliation and is great for those tough dry areas.

Pumice sand is a powerful exfoliant that will leave your skin feeling clean. It has larger grains which provides a more intense exfoliation.

Best for Body & Dry Areas

Apricot and raspberry seeds add an intense exfoliation to soaps while contributing a nice pop of color.

Poppy seeds add a pretty pop of soap to soaps and have powerful exfoliation abilities.
